Sophia University, Japan, and PBD Foundation are organizing “International Symposium:
World Heritage: Towards more peaceful and sustainable societies”  on 23 October 2024,
at Sophia University’s UN Week 2024.  The hybrid symposium, onsite and online, aims
to allow the participants to deliberate on how our shared asset, the World Heritage’s
significance and beauty of culture and nature, can contribute to promoting peace, mutual
understanding, sustainable development, and environmental preservation. 
The discussions will contribute to nurturing the students, researchers, and young leaders
of the next generation to respect and draw on our shared asset for maintaining and

cultivating peacebuilding and sustainable development, which are the cornerstones of
attaining the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

In connection with the symposium, the photo exhibition, “Monologue of World Heritage
Sites” is being organized from 8 to 24 October at the Sophia University.
